When the Democrats turned away from segregation, how many Democrat politicians became Republicans?

That is, people like Strom Thurmond. Are there any stats about this anywhere?

And did any Republican politicians became Democrats?

Democrats never turned away from segregation, they just hid it and learned how to control blacks like Robert KKK Byrd

There are democrats and republicans that were segregationist and did not change political parties.
When George Wallace ran for president, the African-Americans supported him because they knew where he stood on race.
Many politicians change parties for no reason except they no longer support the parties views or platform.
Joe Biden changed from liberal democrat to independent democrat for this last fiasco of an election.

Is this meant to be a hypothetical?
Don’t you mean “If the Democrats ever turn away from segregation?”
Who STILL demands separate legal classes based on race?

Not very many. Most remained Democrats AND supporters of segregation, like George Wallace, Lester Maddox, Orville Faubus, Bull Connor and his hounds from hell, etc And I don’t know why the Democrats get all the credit for ending segregation either. It was President Eisenhower, a Republican, who sent federal troops to Little Rock to integrate the schools there, years before passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964!

There very few people in government that really believe what they say. If you live in Mass. you run as a liberal. That doesn’t really mean you buy the crap. If you live in Alabama you run as a conservative. Which doesn’t really mean you believe in the crap. Most people in this country just believe in what there brought up to believe which is mostly crap.
