Medium voter theory. As close as you are to the centrist voter, the more votes you get.

I’m sure its in your book. (index)

Most people are right of the middle. The progressives (dems) aren’t in the middle, like most Americans. Obama sure isn’t in the middle! He’s off the progressive/liberal chart.

They don’t try to go towards the center. There is no profit for them there in their minds. They feel that the more they polarize themselves from the other party, the more they can lead voters away from the opposite party.

I see what your saying I think that both just need to shut up and deal with what they believe in and to quit trying to please everybody. Instead of being a people pleaser they need to say what they believe and stick to it, things would come through a lot better if they actually spoke from the heart and what they believe in. I wish that non parties had a chance.

Most Americans have a thing called common sense and realize that the best solution is usually part Republican and part Democratic. Sometime it takes them awhile or an election or two to realize this. That’s whats taking place in American right now. They elected one man who if he had to run again right now would not be elected. He still has 3 years left in his term.

when you actually look at tendancies, both parties have grown further and further away from centrist views as time has past, and this is true of both the republicans and democrats.
